Les Kraft is an author, educator, and musician with a passion for fostering kindness, creativity, and self-esteem in children. With over 26 years of experience as a music teacher in Brooklyn, N.Y., and as the head of an early childhood center, Les has dedicated his career to using music and storytelling to inspire young minds.
Les is the author of What’s Our Names?, a delightful children’s book that combines vibrant characters, music, and humor to teach valuable lessons about acceptance, respect, and individuality. The book features sheet music, lyrics, and a CD, making it an engaging and versatile tool for educators and families. Inspired by his classroom experiences, Les created the beloved characters of Charley the guitar and Chef Karafe to bring joy and meaningful lessons to life.
Les believes in the power of literature to elevate self-esteem and nurture kindness, drawing inspiration from books like I’m Gonna Like Me by Jamie Lee Curtis and Hooway for Wodney Wat by Helen Lester. His work continues to inspire children and educators alike, blending literacy, music, and a touch of whimsy to encourage harmony and friendship.
